El Mati, born Mathias Berchadsky in 1976 in Boulogne-Billancourt, is one of the most recognised French flamenco guitarists and composers of his generation.
Initially trained in jazz under Larry Coryell, John Scofield and Mike Stern, he discovered flamenco during a trip to Andalusia in 1998. He then studied at the Fundación Cristina Heeren in Seville.
He has accompanied major flamenco artists: La Farruca, Alejandro Granados, La Tremendita, Rocío Márquez, Pastora Galván. His debut album "Cantos del Posible" (2010) received critical acclaim. His second album "Manifiesta" (2020) was recorded between India, Spain and France.
